Hon. George Goldthwaite of Mobile, Alabama was born on Boston Dec. 10, 1810, George was married in Washington, D. C. on Nov. 30, 1835 to Olivia Price Wallach according to the Goldthwaite genealogy[1] record: 339, pp. 145-146. Olivia was born in Boston Feb. 10, 1810 and was the youngest child of Moses and Mary (Robbins) Wallach. She died in Montgomery, Alabama on July 13, 1878. George Goldthwaite’s early life was passed in Boston, where he became a member of the Latin School in 1818 as indicated in the Goldthwaite genealogy[1] record: 339, pp. 200-203

U.S. Senator Hon. George Goldthwaite attended the United States Military Academy West Point, (1823-26), moved to Alabama in 1826, studied law, was admitted to the bar and established a legal practice in Monticello, Alabama. He was judge of the circuit court, (1843-52) and an associate justice of the Alabama State Supreme Court, (1852-56). During the Civil War, he served as Adjutant General of Alabama. After the war, he was again judge of the circuit court in 1868. In 1871, he was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate, serving until 1877. Not a candidate for reelection, he lived in retirement until his death at age 69.
