Biography

On 26 June 1873 John French Goodwin was born in Kaikoura to Ann French and John Goodwin. [1]

On 19 November 1913 Effie Ethel Paget and John French Goodwin were married in Auckland. [2]

Marriage Notice GOODWIN-PAGET.-On November 16, 1913 at St. Matthew's Church, Auckland, by the Rev. Robjohns, John French Goodwin, of Maramarua, to Effie Ethel Paget, of Papakura. [3]

A decree nisi was also made in the petition of John French Goodwin, farmer, of Maramarua, who sought a divorce from his wife, Effie Goodwin, Henry Goodchild, of Ohakune, being cited as co respondent. . . Petitioner was given custody of the children.

He was a farmer in Kopuku.

He passed away in 1942.

MR J. F. GOODWIN PUKEKOHE, Monday
The death has occurred of Mr John French Goodwin, of Maramarua. aged 74, a former member of the Waikato County Council. He was born in Kaikohe (sic). He farmed successfully for some years at Cambridge before he removed to Maramarua 38 years ago, settling on land he acquired there. He became a member of the Whangamarino Road Board, and when the board was merged with the Waikato County Council he was elected to the council. He is survived by a son and three daughters.
