Will of Joseph Whelan Gootee 3 Feb 1810; 12 Mar 1810 Washington Co, Ky Bk B p 75: In the name of God, Amen. I, Joseph W. Gootee of Washington Co and State of Ky, revoking all others, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First, my executors hereinafter named are well and truly to discharge all my just and lawful debts as soon as may be done after my demise. I devise to my beloved wife, Sarah Gootee, all my estate real and personal during her widowhood and after her marriage or decease, my will is that all my states then in her possession or in the possession of any other person or persons, be appraised and inventoried according to law and that my wife, Sarah, have one third part of said estate and that my brother, George Gootee, and my children, Anna J, Thomas, Mary, Silas, Charles, Sarah, Elizabeth Gootee, have the other two thirds of said estate equally divided between them and their heirs forever. Lastly, I constitute and appoint my wife, Sarah Gootee, executrix of this my last will and testament in testimony of all which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of February, 1810. He was the grandson of John and Margaret Gootee who immigrated to America during the late 1600’s from France. He married Sarah Bramble in Baltimore, Md in 1794. They were the parents of Anna (1795), George Sebastian (1796 – kidnapped in Maryland and unable to find a trace of him), Thomas Nesbe (1797), Mary M. (1801), Silas (1804), Elizabeth (1805), Sarah J. (1807) and Charles (1809). They moved to Washington Co, Ky sometime between 1809-1810. Joseph d 3 Feb 1810 and was buried in Washington Co, Ky.
