Charlotte Gordon was born in 1861 in Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas Gordon and Jane Hall[1].
Charlotte's family emigrated from Ireland to Scotland about 1864 and lived at Armadale, Linlithgowshire.
In the 1871 Scotland Census, Charlotte was age 10 living at Armadale, Linlithgowshire with her father Thomas (45), mother Jane (37), brothers Josiah (18), Thomas (12), John (3), unnamed [James] (0), sister Christina (8)[1]
Charlotte emigrated to Australia in 1882[2]. She departed Glasgow on 2 Feb 1882 on the Southesk. She arrived in Brisbane on the 27 May 1882. The ship came into Brisbane on the 10 May 1882 and on the 13 May 1882 was taken to Peel Island (a 19th Century quarantine station in Moreton Bay) - quarantined for Typhoid Fever. There were 4 births on the journey and 15 deaths. Four babies died on Peel Island.
Charlotte had a child Bertram Douglas Gordon in 1886 while unmarried.
Charlotte married Henry Harold Brown about 1886 in Queensland.
Charlotte and Harry had five additional children: James, Henry, Annie May, George Edward, Charlotte.
