A Sir Paul Gore was sent from Ireland or England by Queen Elizabeth to start a colony similar to Jamestown.
John came to America 26 Feb 1653. Jim Gore states that early VA records have "clearly shown that Joseph and Henry Goare were the only children of the immigrant John and his wife Margaret."
From Ted Gill: In Lower Norfolk records, p. 44, 15 Apr 1653 , a certificate is noted for Thomas Willoughby, Jr., for transporting, among others, John Gore. Thus Willoughby claimed Gore as a headright, and Gore would have come from England before that time.
In OB 2:348, under date of 29 Nov 1665, and recorded in Lancaster Co., 01 Jun 1666, Augustine Moone gave John Gore his power of attorney. Since Abraham Moone was dead by this t ime, one wonders if Augustine was of his family. (*check notes on David Allison for Abraham Moone).
On 16 Jan 1658 John Gore patented 150 acres of land on th e north side of the Peanketanke River in Lancaster Co, Va . I have been unable to determine if he was an emigrant o r a descendant of thomas Gore who was among the 1st settler s at Jamestown in 1607. His roots are in England tho, sinc e he maintained a bank account in London.
