Biography

Edwin Gough was born about 1834 according to 1841 census and death records,^[1] or 1840 according to 1881 census.^[2] (about 1859 according to the 1891 census,^[3] but this seems likely incorrect based on birth year of first child) All confirm that he was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales.^[1][2][3] His father was Edward Gough.^[4]

In the 1841 Wales census, Edwin Gough (7) was living in Montgomeryshire, Wales, with his father Edward Gough (50), and his siblings Maria (20), Joseph (15), James (13), George (11), Charles (9) and Henry (5).^[1]

Edwin Gough married Mary Ann Laycock on 4 Feb 1869 in St Bride, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^[4]

In the 1881 England census, Mary A Gough (29) was married to Edwin Gough (41). They were living in Everton, Lancashire, with their children W E M (10), F M (8), M B (6), P F R (4), V E (1). Also living with them was W H Laycock (21) and Agnes Laycvock (18).^[2]

In the 1891 England census, Mary A Gough (40) and Edwin Gough (32) were living in Everton, Lancashire, with children William E M (21), Florence M (19), Maude B (15), Percy F R (13), Violet E (11), John B (8) and Ernest V J (6).^[3]

Edward Gough, age 60 (born about 1834) died in 1894. His death was registered Oct-Dec 1894 in Liverpool.^[5] He was buried on 28 Dec 1894 at Ford Cemetery, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^[6]

In the (March) 1901 census his wife was listed as widowed.^[7]
