GOURRIER, Theophile Clay. Pvt. Called Clay. Born 2 Aug 1846, probably Iberville Parish. Baptized 16 Sep 1847, St. Gabrield Catholic Church, St. Gabriel. Son of Dr. Andre Melchior Theophile GOURRIER & Marie Mathilde LANDRY of Iberville Parish. Enlisted in Company A, 19 Dec [62], Camp Rogers [no state given], age 16. Present to Feb 63. No further record in Booth for this unit. Family history says "sent home as being too young," no date given, & that "He later was able to join the army and fought at the battle of Vicksburg." Served later in Company A, 22nd (Patton's 21st) Regiment Infantry as Pvt. // Booth, LA Confed. Soldiers, 3(1):68: C. GOURRIER. BRDR, 6:280: Theophile Clay GOURRIER. CSRC, Index: C. GOURRIER. Kinta Delamain, descendant, source for his full name & personal information; says he served in this unit as Cpl., but Booth says Pvt. // Brother of Gabriel Albert, Melchior Ernest, & Thomas Edouard GOURRIER of this company; Albert Richardson GOURRIER of Field & Staff, 18th Regiment Infantry; & Samuel Edouard GOURRIER of Company D, 27th Regiment Infantry.
