Note: The initials "W.M.R. Gray" were used on his marriage license, seen and photograsphed by Jim and Erma Williams on 26 May 2005 in the Trenton, GA Courthouse Records repository. Except for the 1870 census in Dade County,, GA with his father, this is the first time we have heard of the "M" initial in his name, although we have family letters about him. It is very probable that the "M" is for Michael, named after his grandfather, Michael (William) Gray.
