Edward Stanley Green (1890 - 1931)

Biography

Private Edward Stanley Green enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in WWI on the 28th of July 1915 as Regimental Serial no. 3801. Enlistment records have his mother as Mrs Violet Smiley Green living at 253 Newcastle St West Perth and later 8 Lindsay St Perth. He was a Plumber by trade. He was assigned as part of the 12th reinforcements for the 11th Battalion A Company. This unit embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board RMS Mongolia on the 22nd of November 1915. In May 1917 he was transferred to the 70th Battalion and by November 1917 he was back with the 11th Battalion and returned to Australia on the 15th of February 1918.

Other children were Peggy, Teddy and Ronnie.

Online death records list his parents as William Henry Green and Violet Emily Wood.

He died age 41.

He is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery in the same plot as his son. Cemetery records have his last suburb of residence as Maylands.

DEATH NOTICES GREEN. —At the Repatriation Ward, Perth Hospital, Edward Stanley, dearly beloved eldest son of the late William and Violet Green, loving brother of Elsie (Mrs. Dickinson), Clarice (Mrs. Worland), Doris (Mrs. Bennetts,deceased), Hilda (Mrs. Lowe),and Claude. Peacefully sleeping.

GREEN. —On August 17, at the Repatriation ward, Perth Hospital, Edward Stanley, dearly beloved husband of Pricilla, loving father of Lionel, Peggy, Teddy and Ronnie, aged 41.
