Biography

Rosalvo Theodore Green was born in May 25,1904. He preferred to be called Ted, or R.T. Since his Father's name was also Rosalvo Green ... Ted grew up in Menlo Iowa, he served in the US Army, during WWll. He served in in India, working on the railroad. He passed away Jan 31, 1976. Ted and Teresa Green married September 3, 1949. He as 45 yrs old, and she was 35yrs old. They bought a home in Des Moines, and raised 5 children. Ted loved to travel, frequently traveling prior to his marriage, while working for the Rock Island Railroad . He was as track laborer. His job was maintaining, and fixing the tracks. While their 5 children were growing up, Ted and Teresa took their family on yearly vacations. The Green's would camp as they traveled , exploring the United States. Usually the first stop was Denver, Colorado, to visit his sisters and their families. Everyone in the family enjoyed going to see their Aunts and Uncles, and especially their cousin Stacee Van Portfliet. Ted was a big supporter of his 3 boys, and loved watching them play Little League baseball. During the summer, life rotated around their baseball season. One year the family vacation was rescheduled, and rerouted to Fargo, North Dakota. The youngest Green, Patrick was a member of the State Champion Babe Ruth team, and played in a regional tournament in Fargo. He was an avid sports fan, any and every sport. Especially baseball! Ted could usually be found every summer evening, listening to a baseball game , on the radio. He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and later in life the Chicago Cubs. All of his children, even though they didn't always like it when then were young, are avid Cub fans.
