John Greene Jr. was born in Ireland.

John was born on 30 June 1744. He was the son of John Greene and Frances Nicholson.

He lived at Greenville, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 8th Dragoons.

John married Maria Boyse (widow of Christopher Musgrave and daughter of Thomas Boyce, Esq., of Bishop's Hall, co. Kilkenny, Ireland) on 10 June 1775 in Newry, County Down, Ireland[1].

They had three children:

  1. Margaret (d. 13 Feb 1810)
  2. John (b. 1776, d. 23 Oct 1810)
  3. Godfrey (b. 1777, d. 4 May 1859)

His wife died in September 1780 and he married, secondly, widow Letitia Greene (daughter of Nuttall Greene and Elizabeth Rothe) on 9 March 1782 in County Kilkenny[2]:

In Kilkenny, John Greene, jun. Efq. of Grenville, to Mrs. Letitia Greene, of Low-grange.[3]

They had two children:

  1. Eliza (d. 22 Mar 1808)
  2. Joseph (b. 4 May 1783, d. 28 Feb 1858)

He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kilkenny in 1792.[4]

John passed away in 1803 at the age of 58.
