Biography

Ruby Garnet Grogg was born January 10, 1919, on Kaskaskia Island, IL.[1] She was the daughter of Floyd Roseman Grogg and Chloe Layton.[2][3] [4][5]

She married Samuel Booth Sr. on June 10, 1935, in Dupo, Illinois.

In 1940, she lived on North Poplar Street in Centralia.[6]

She passed away on May 19, 1993, in Centralia, Illinois.

Ruby Booth

Ruby G. Booth, 74, of 1717 S. Lincoln died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1993, at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born on Kaskaskia Island on Jan. 10, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Chole (Layton) Grogg. She married Samuel C. Booth in Centralia in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1953.

She is survived by two sons, Sam Booth of Lubbock, Texas, and Randy Booth of Rolla, Mo.; two daughters, Phyllis Booth Clifton of Centralia and Sierra Booth Meyer of Morton; two brothers, Floyd Grogg of Princeville and Kenneth Grogg of Bloomington; four sisters, Merle Cooksey of Centralia, Naomi Picou of Kaskaskia Island, and Dorothy Lee Leckrone and Carol Graham, both of Salem; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Booth was a lifetime resident of Centralia. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Irvin Funeral Home, with the Rev. John R. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Friday from 8 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Centralia Community Benevolent Association or Calumet Street Christian Church. They will be received at the funeral home.
