Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Martha (Grove) Manning is a part of US Black heritage.

Martha Grove was born about 1875 in South Carolina. She was the daughter of Marlborough/James Grove and his wife Mazarine. In 1880 she was living with them in Santee, South Carolina.[1]

In 1910 Martha was living in Santee with her husband Benjamin Manning and two children, Edgar and an infant son. They had been married 11 years and Martha had had 3 children, two of them living. James and Mazarine Grove were living nearby.[2] In 1920 Ben and Martha were still living in Santee with four sons, Edgar, Samuel, Jeff and Frank.[3] In 1930 Edgar had left home and they were living with their 3 younger sons.[4]
