Benjamin Guiles was born on December 14, 1850 in Cumru Township, Berks, Pennsylvania, United States. His parents were John Guiles Sr. (~1811 - 1881) and Elizabeth (Wert) Guiles (1813 - 1881).

His brother was John Guiles (~1838 - 1925).

Benjamin married Rose A. Marks Giles (14 Oct 1851–8 Feb 1915).
