Biography

Charles Gabriel Guimond was born on February 18, 1797 in Cap-Saint-Ignace to Jean Gabriel Guimond and Marguerite Jalbert. He was baptized the next day. His godparents were Noël Jalbert and Reine Ursule Lemieux[1].

He married Marie Géneviève Dion on November 6, 1820 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[2]. They had twelve children:

  • Triphéne Adélaïde Guimond born April 3, 1823 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[3]
  • Charles Guimond born November 7, 1824 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[4]
  • Azade Guimond born September 24, 1826 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[5]
  • Augule Edmond Guimond born May 30, 1828 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[6]
  • Joseph Gilbert Guimond born October 28, 1829 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[7]
  • Anonyme Guimond born and died December 1, 1830 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[8]
  • Françoise Eudocie Guimond born March 8, 1832 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[9]
  • Antime Guimond born March 31, 1835 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[10]
  • Adélaïde Dina Guimond born April 28, 1836 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[11]
  • Pierre Léon Guimond born June 28, 1838 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[12]
  • Amélie Wilhelmine Caroline Guimond born January 4, 1840 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[13]
  • Anonyme Guimond born and died July 1, 1843 in Cap-Saint-Ignace[14]

In 1851, Charles and Géneviève were living in Cap-Saint-Ignace with their children Azade, Augure, Léon, Eulalie, Dina, and Emelie[15].

Charles and Géneviève were still living in Cap-Saint-Ignace during the 1861 census. Only Léon was still living with them[16].

Géneviève died on May 18, 1869 in Cap-Saint-Ignace at the age of sixty-five. She was buried the next day[17].

Charles was still residing in Cap-Saint-Ignace during the 1871 census with his daughter, Wilhelmine. Many of his other children were residing nearby with their families[18].

Charles died on July 17, 1876 in Cap-Saint-Ignace at the age of seventy-nine. He was buried three days later[19].
