Maria was the daughter of Henry Gurney and Elizabeth Bartlett. She was born at Norwich, Norfolk on 30 January 1758,[1][2] died, unmarried, on 28 March 1804 and was buried at Barking Quaker burial ground, Essex on 3 April (the Quaker death and burial records describe her as a resident of Norwich).[3][4]
