Biography

Ethel was born in 1912 in Toongabbie, the daughter of William Henry Guyatt Jnr and Annie Pipes. ^[1]

At the age of 3, she lost her father William Henry Guyatt Jnr and at the age of 6 years she was orphaned when her mother Annie Elizabeth (Pipes) Guyatt also passed away. It appears she was then raised by her grandparents. ^[2]

Ethel was listed as the next of kin on the WW2 enlistment form for her brother, William Edward. When William was discharged from the services, he obtained living quarters in Richmond, only a few hundred metres from where Ethel (now married) was living. ^[3]

She was living in Vere St, Abbotsford in 1936 and 1937, before her marriage.

Ethel married Gregory Leonard Carvill on 4 January1941 at St James Church, North Richmond, Victoria, Australia. ^[4]

Ethel lived mostly in Essendon, shifting to a unit in Hawthorn upon the retirement of her husband, sometime between 1972 and 1977. ^[5]

Electoral Rolls.

She passed away in 2001. The only death notice was in the Sun-Herald (Melbourne) 22 October 2010 "CARVILL. - Ethel May, passed away peacefully Oct. 19, 2001 after a long illness at Swan Hill District Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Gregory. Life long friend of Peg and Hilda, loved aunt of Frank and Margaret. Together again".

Notes

Death to be confirmed. Ethel may have shifted to the Swan Hill area after Gregory's death. Also, there is no mention of children in the death notice, which was the only death notice found.
