Biography

Levi Louis Haddock was born at Woodall, Oklahoma, in Cherokee County on March 31, 1930 to Mildred Irene Garr Haddock and Levi Franklin Haddock. He passed from this life to his heavenly home on March 25 at home in Muskogee OK. Most of his early life was spent in the Tahlequah area. In 1949 he moved to Muskogee where he went to work at the Muskogee Daily Phoenix newspaper in July 1949. He retired from there March 31, 1992 having worked almost 43 years in the composing room in ad makeup, paste composition and later as camera technician. At the paper office he met and married Beulah Pruitt six months after meeting. They were married over 64 wonderful years and were blessed with two boys, Gary and Ronnie. In 1956 Levi and Beulah took on the big task of building them a house in the country in which to raise their two small boys northwest of Muskogee OK. In 2000 they sold this home and moved into the city of Muskogee where they remained. Levi loved his family, his church and his church family, and he was loved by them. He liked reading, working in his shop, working in the yard and flowers. He was ordained as a deacon September 13, 1959 in Immanuel Baptist Church in Muskogee. He was Sunday School Director at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church in Muskogee 27 years and treasurer 16 years. He enjoyed teaching his last Sunday School class 9 years. He also held other positions in his church. He was a member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church 54 years. He was next to the oldest of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary; brother, Lowell. Memorial services will be conducted by Glen Little, pastor of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church, and Tom Shelton at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church, 3605 Tahlequah St., Muskogee, Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 followed by a short service at Memorial Park Cemetery mausoleum west of Muskogee under the direction of Bradley Funeral Home of Muskogee.
