Biography

When Sarah Ramey Hall was born on October 18, 1828, in Lincoln, Tennessee, her father, William, was 27, and her mother, Nancy, was 29. She married Elijah Pamplin (1827-1862) on January 2, 1850 in Lincoln, Tennessee[1] and they had eight children:

  • Sarah Lucretia Caroline (1850–1917)
  • Mary "Mollie" L. (1851–1885)
  • Margaret L. W. (1852–1917)
  • Elizabeth Rachel (1855–)
  • William (1856–1923)
  • Phila Ann (1858–)
  • Wily M. (James?) (1859–1917)
  • Pheba Ann (1859–1932)[2]

She then married widower Anderson Swinney (1808-c1886) about 1863 and they had seven children:

  • William Riley (1866–1928)
  • John Bell (1866–1940)
  • Samuel Jackson (1869–1929)[3]
  • E. J. (Jane E.?) (1871–1916)
  • Nancy A. (1873–1909)
  • Rosamond A. (1874–1920)
  • Isaiah S. (1876–1944)[4][5]

She died on August 21, 1897, in Robertson, Tennessee, at the age of 68.[6]
