Biography

William was a Revolutionary war veteran, he was living in Rowan County, North Carolina during the war. Affidavits sworn to concerning his pension application state: "William Hall now residing in said county served with these deponents in the Army of the United States in the Revolutionary War. That they became acquainted with at Salisbury in the spring of the year 1778, that they all belonged to and served in Capt. Matthew Ramsey's Company in the fourth Regiment commanded by Col.Thaxton, until the fall of the year 1779 when they were discharged. They say that the said Hall was a faithful soldier and was wounded at the battle of Stono and was regularly discharged."


In the name of God, Amen. I, William Hall, beong weake in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory and blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish my last will and testament in manner and form following...........

First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughters Jean Brem and Cythea Heire and Elizabeth Huie my beds and bed furniture to be divided among themselves equally. I further give and devise to my son Wilson Hall his heirs and assigns forever fifty acres of land more or less lying on the east side of the middle branch. Also, I give and devise unto my beloved son all the livestock of any kind that I have a claim to and likewise all the plantation utensils and likewise my big Bible and all my body clothing. I give and bequeath for ever in witness whereof I have hereinto set my hand and seal this 14th Day of December in the year of our Lord 1828

According to info sent by Milton and Bertie Newsom: "The Hall family lived in Iredell County, North Carolina and came to West Tennesse along with the Montgomery, Archibald and Huie families.

William was born about 1757. He passed away in 1815. [1]
