There are two baptism records covering William, one for 1 December 1805 at Charles the Martyr Church, Plymouth, Devon, England and one for 29 August 1809 at Holy Trinity Church, Gosport, Hampshire, England ^[6]

It should be noted on the 1861 Census he was stated as born c1806 in Plymouth and his burial register entry shows a birth year of 1805.

• Records show William Anthony’s last name at birth was Halsted and not Halstead, as were his children.
