1766 Deed of Gift: Elizabeth Hamman, wife of John Haman, deceased, has in her possession a negro woman Sary. During his lifetime, John Haman told in her presence, and in the presence of daughter Ruth and others now dead, (that) he wanted his daughter Prudence to have this slave. I am ready to give her (Sary) and her increase to Prudence & my son-in-law, Thomas Chamberlain, if they will lend (to) me as many of her (Sary's) increase as they can spare to help maintain me as long as I live.
