MRS. KATHERINE HAMMOND BILLINGS DIES IN NEW YORK

News has been received here of the death of Mrs. Katherine Hammond Billings, wife of Dr. John S, Billings of New York who passed away Sunday at her summer home at Woodstock, N. Y. The body was brought on Wednesday morning to Redcliffe, the Hammond home on Beech Island, where the funeral services were conducted and interment followed in the Hammond family burying ground.

Mrs. Billings was the daughter of the late Major and Mrs. Harry Hammond, of Beech Island, where she lived until her marriage to Dr. Billings who took her to New York. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Jno. S Billing of New York city; two sons, Jno. S. Billings, Jr.. of Washington, D. C., and Henry H. Billings of New York city: her sister, Mrs. J. P. Richards of Beech Island, her brothers, Judge Henry C. Hammond of Augusta: C. C. F. Hammond of Beech Island, and Alfred Hammond of Columbia.

Mrs. Billings has hosts of friends who will grieve deeply over her death, and unite with her loved ones in their grief. She was a very brilliant and charming woman, one of rare lovely character, and a delightful companion whose society was eagerly sought by young and old. Although her health had been poor for years, she had not apparently been in any worse health recently. Her death was very sudden and a severe shock to the many who loved her and who mourn her loss.

Mr. and Mrs. John Billings, Jr. of New York. who have recently been visiting at Redcliffe, left for New York Sunday shortly before the arrival of the telegram announcing their mother's death.
