Biography

Margaret "Maggie" Evelyn Hanna was born on July 15, 1855, in Walker, Alabama, to Arminda R Cannon, age 17, and William Jasper Hanna, age 24. In some sources, her last name is written as Hannah. In 1860, her family was living in Summit, in Blount County, Alabama. ^[1]

She married William Bates Jones on September 17, 1879, in Brownwood, Texas. In 1880, she and Bill were living in Grayson County and farming. ^[2] After a short while north of Ft. Worth, they settled in Baird in Callahan County, Texas, and had a family of 7 children, 6 boys and one girl. ^[3] In 1910. they were living at Baird & Abilene Road and Maggie reported that all seven of her children were living, remarkable in those days before modern medicine. ^{[4] [5]}

She died on June 25, 1945, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 89, of "spastic paralysis". ^[6] Maggie was buried next to her husband in Baird, Texas, in the Ross Cemetery. ^[7]
