In 1877, Ole Hansen married Helene Mikkelsdatter at Aamodt church in Nordre Land, Oppland, Norway. They had the following children in Norway: Bertha Maria, Hans Peter, Hans Peter, Harald Oskar, and Stinette Mattea. The family emigrated to the United States in 1892, eventually settling at North Dakota. They had daughter Clara Mathilda in the United States and also adopted Ella Mitbo. The family then went to Canada in 1910, settling in Saskatchewan.
