Harriet had married, probably around 1865, Charles Montgomery Record. They had two children, Rachel Ellen and William. In 1849, Charles was in Butte County, California where he died on 27 Jun 1849, leaving Harriet a widow.[4] No information has been located as to whether Harriet was in California at this time. But as we will see, Harriet was in California after Charles' death.
In 1850, Harriet and her two children were residing with her parents in Holt, Missouri, United States. Also in the home were Harriet's sister Margaret and brother Jesse. In separate households, but nearby, we find Harriet's elder brothers, Henry and Samuel, along with their respective families.[1]
Sometime prior to 1860, Harriet apparently married Martin Luther Charles. Harriet and Martin had a son together, George Wesley Charles who was born in Benton County, Oregon, United States. Little George died in 1863 in Benton County.[5]
The couple relocated to Sonoma, Sonoma, California by 1888 where Martin registered to vote.[6] In 1902, Harriet was again widowed, when Martin died in Sonoma.[7]
Harriet was to marry for a third time, to Theron Wells Crook on 10 Jan 1869 in Del Norte County.[8][9]
Harriet would live until 9 Jul 1918 when she died at the age of 91, in Crescent City, Del Norte.[2][3] According to records Harriet was buried in the "old" Masonic Cemetery which is today the Brother Jonathan Cemetery in Crescent City, Del Norte, California, USA. Her grave is considered "lost".[10]
