Biography

Ben was Creek.

Pen Harjo was born Oct. 8, 1898. He was the son of Blly Harjo, a Seminole man, and Docher (Davis) Harjo, a Creek woman.^[1] His mother died about 1902.

He married Kizzie Bowlegs in 1917. ^[2]

In 1920 Pen (listed as "Ben"), Kizzie, and a daughter Ruth are living with his aunt. ^[3]

The 1930 census shows "Ben" with a second wife, formerly Susie Walker, and five children. ^[4]

He died in August, 1971 ^[5]
