Biography

17 Jun 1726: Marriage of George Oxley and Mary Harmerr at Heathfield, Sussex, England.[1]

Research Notes

Marriage of George Oxley and Mary Harmer (aka Harmerr) in Heathfield, Sussex. The bride's birthplace is very often the location used for marriage.

Two baptisms of Mary Harmer in Heathfield:

05 Sep 1701: Mary Harmar, daughter of Thomas and Margaret, christened at Heathfield, Sussex, England [2] This Mary would have been 25 years old at marriage.

24 Jun 1703: Mary Harmor, daughter of Josiah and Ann, christened at Heathfield, Sussex, England.[3] This Mary would have been 23 years old at marriage.

Since Thomas and Josiah Harmer were brothers it would not change subsequent parents. Swift-3601 20:05, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

But which Mary Harmer married George Oxley? Swift-3601 19:31, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Susan Oxley, bap 24 Nov 1744, was last born child of George Oxley and Mary Harmer. There was a Mary Harmer, widowed, who was buried 13 Dec 1747 in Heathfield. [4] Could this be the same Mary in the marriage to George Oxley. This would imply George died between 1745 and 1747. Swift-3601 19:31, 1 February 2024 (UTC) However additional possibility: Mary Harmer was buried 25 Feb 1778 [age 77] [5] Swift-3601 19:31, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
