Harold Robert (Bob) Harmon, Sr, passed away October 28, 2010. He was born August 26, 1933, in Covington, VA; resident of Chesapeake since 1963. Harold attended Waynesboro High School where he excelled in baseball. He completed a four-year apprenticeship, as a Machinist, in Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Harold retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, in Portsmouth, VA, after 39 years of service. He served 5 years as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Lee, VA, and Fort Myer, VA, Tank Division "Old Guard"; South Korea, Ft. Benning, GA, Camp Rooker, AL, Ft. Jackson, SC, and Camp Gordon, GA. Harold Served in the Merchant Marines in Korea and Japan, in 1952 during the war. For the past 26 years, Harold served as President of Jackson-Hewitt Tax Franchise. He is survived by his wife, Rena of 54 years; three sons, Harold Harmon, Jr, his wife, Joan, Ronald Harmon, his wife, Pamela, Christopher Harmon, his wife, Lisa; and daughter, Teresa Lynn Bruce, her husband, Brian; ten grandchildren, Susie, Melissa, Sherry, Ronald, Samantha, Brian, Robert, Shawn, Jenna, and Trace; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, Becky, Michael, and Cameron. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, in Chesapeake, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, in the funeral home chapel.
