William Harper dies at 84
Succumbs just 12 days after death of wife.
William Harper, 84, a longtime district resident whose home was on Pittsburg, RR 1, died at 8:20 o'clock this morning at Mt. Carmel hospital just 12 days after his wife, Mrs. Edith Harper died at 11:20 a.m. Feb. 5 at the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Harper were married March 10, 1891 in Logansport, Ind. They had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last March. Coming to this district 49 years ago from Logansport, Mr. and Mrs. lived at their home of RR 1 for the past 11 years.
Mr. Harper was born Jun 16, 1868 in Logansport. He was a farmer.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Alice Varga, Mulberry; Mrs. Marie Ard, Osage City, Kas.; Mrs. Edith Slack, Franklin; three sons, Joe Harper, Mulberry; George Harper and Jessie Harper, both of the home; one half brother, Boyd Strumburn of Logansport; 33 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The body will be taken to the home Monday. Funeral services will be held there at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Ralph Simpson will officiate with burial in Rosebank cemetery at Mulberry. The Friskel funeral home of Frontenac is in charge of the arrangements.
