George Harper is an Anzac who served in World War One.

Biography

George was born in 1892. He is the son of George Harper and Florence Annie Dodson. [1] He passed away in 1917 age 25 [2]

George Harper (Service number 14981 and 6/252 ) served in the Army during World War I, He was a Private in the Canterbury Infantry Regiment He gave his next of kin on as George Harper (father), of Stoke, Nelson. He embarked ,16 October 1914 aboard HMNZT 4 or HMNZT 11 the vessels Tahiti or Maunganui as a Private in the 14th Reinforcements, Canterbury Infantry Battalion, C Company of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force . His 2nd embarkation was 26 June 1916 aboard HMNZT 56 or HMNZT 57 the vessels Tahiti or Athenic as a Private in the Canterbury Infantry Battalion He was Killed in Action 7 June 1917 in Belgium, His name appears on the Messines Ridge (New Zealand) Memorial, at Messines Ridge British Cemetery, in Belgium and the Marlborough War Memorial, 20 Seymour Street, Blenheim, as well as the Seddon District War Memorial, Cnr of Mills and Wakefield St, in Seddon, [3]
