George Harrington was born in 1843 at Great Dunmow, Essex, England. He was the son of John Harrington and Charlotte Crow.[1]

In the census on 30th March 1851, George Harrington resided at Roxwell Road, Writtle, Essex. Aged 8 years. Living with parents John & Charlotte Harrington and siblings: Mary A. (18), Jane (16), John (14), Joseph (12), Rebecca (10), Abigail (6) and Alfred (4). Place of birth recorded as Dunmow, Essex, England.[2]

In the census of 1861, George Harrington resided at Chelmsford Road, Writtle, Essex. Aged 18 years. Living with parents John Harrington (54), Charlotte Harrington (56) and siblings Mary Ann Harrington (28), John Harrington (24), Rebecca Harrington (20), Abigall Harrington (16), Alfred Harrington (14). Also niece Deborah Harrington (4).[3]

George Harrington and Eliza Matthews married in 1869 in Chelmsford district, Essex, England.[4] They had eight children:

In the census on 2nd April 1871, George Harrington resided at Roxwell Road, Writtle, Essex. Aged 28 years. Living with wife Eliza and children: Charles (1) and Annie (3 months). Occupation: Agricultural Labourer. Place of birth recorded as Dunmow, Essex, England.[6] Note: Living next door to parents John & Charlotte.

In the census on 3rd April 1881, George Harrington resided at Barnards Farm, Willingale Doe. Aged 38 years. Living with wife Eliza and children: Charles (11), Annie (10), George (8), Charlotte (3) and Lillian (9 months). Occupation: Seedsman 7 acres of land. Place of birth recorded as Dunmow, Essex, England.[9]

In the census on 5th April 1891, George Harrington resided at West Hall, Great Braxted, Essex, England. Aged 47 years. Living with wife Eliza and children: Charles (21), Charlotte (13), Lillian (10) & Minnie (5). Occupation: Agricultural Labourer. Place of birth recorded as Dunmow, Essex, England.[10]

In the census of 1901, George Harrington resided at Langford, Essex, England. Aged 57 years. Living with wife Eliza and children: Charlotte (22), Lillian (20) & Minnie (15). Occupation: Farm Carpenter.[18]

In the census of 1911, George Harrington resided at Little Dunmow, Essex, England. Aged 68 years. Living with wife Eliza and children: Charlotte (33) & Minnie (25). Occupation: Farm Labourer.[19]

George Harrington died in 1918 age 75 at Dunmow, Essex. He was buried on 14 Oct 1918 at St Mary the Virgin, Great Dunmow, Essex.[20][21]
