Biography

Violet was born in 1903.[1] She was the daughter of Robert Harriott and Margaret Murphy. She passed away in 1964.[2]

In 1934, Violet married Kevin Patrick Doyle.[3]

At Nuptial Mass, celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Bungendore, on Tuesday, 24th ult., Rev. Father M. D. O 'Sullivan officiated at the marriage of Violet Mary, only child of the late Robert Harriott and Mrs. A. Hyles, to Kevin Patrick, eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Doyle.
The church had been prettily decorated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The bride, who was escorted by Mr. Arthur Hyles, wore an ankle-length frock of white windswept satin. Her train was lent by her aunt (Mrs. Syd. Smith), and her tulle veil was the gift of her grandmother (Mrs. Mary Murphy), who had herself embroidered it. The bride also wore her Child of Mary cloak. The bridesmaids were Miss Lily Smith, who wore a rose pink velvet frock, with toque to match; and Miss Alice Doyle, who chose a frock of shrimp spun silk, with toque to match. The bride's train was carried by her two small cousins, Margaret Murphy, wearing pink tulle; and Gordon Smith, in a pink satin suit. Messrs. V. O'Donnell and D. Harriott were grooms men. The "Wedding March"' was played by Mr. Darcy Murphy, who also sang an 'Ave Maria' during the signing of the register. Immediately after the ceremony the bride and bridegroom visited St. Joseph's Convent, were they were at one time students. The reception was held in the Federal Hall. Mrs. Hyles welcomed the guests, who numbered 100. Rev. Father O 'Sullivan presided, and proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom. On leaving for the honeymoon, which is being spent in Sydney, the bride travelled in a grey flocked tweed costume, with a small brown hat. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle will make their home at Bungendore.[4]
