Biography

Susan/Susane/Susanna Harris was the daughter of William Harris esq of Southminster, Essex, and his first wife Joane Smith. She married John 'Ayloffe' [or Ayliffe], son of Sir John Ayloffe, knight.[1][2][3][4][5]

Susan was recorded in the will of her father William Harris esq., the will made on 12 Sep 1556.[6] "I will that yf John Ayliff and his father will make unto my daughter Susan a Joynter of Thirtie poundes ayere Then I will then he shall have one hundrethe pounds paide unto hym when he shall make her assurance thereof/ over and beside thannuitie of xx li. ayere whiche I have given her before in my will", suggesting that Susan was either just married or about to be married to John Ayliffe.

She was noted in 1575 making a claim for the annuity that her father had granted her.[7]

She was not recorded in the will of her husband John Ayliffe esq., the will made on 14 Jun 1579 and proved on 23 Apr 1580[8] hence it is presumed that she had died at some point in the period 1575-1579.
