Charles A.E. Harriss was an English-born Canadian musician, composer, impresario and conductor.
Born in London, England in 1862, he was the son of Edwin Harriss, an organist and choir master, and Elizabeth Duff.
He emigrated to Canada in late 1882. He worked as organist and choir director in churches in Montreal for a few years then made Ottawa his home. His prominent connections in Ottawa society aided by his wife, Ella, ensured his success as a composer and producer of large works.
He died in Ottawa in 1929, his wife preceding him. He was buried in Cobourg, Ontario.
