Biography

Caroline's family called her Carrie. At the time of her birth, Kaiserville was known as Vose.

Carrie Harvey had an aunt Emma Harvey Lane from Driftwood area of central PA. Aunt Emma Harvey Lane was also William Gorman's aunt by marriage. Mary, the third child of William Lane and Sarah Smith married James Gorman. Mary Lane Gorman was third child and Hugh Bourn Lane was tenth child.

Carrie and William met thru Aunt Emma. They wrote letters and then Carrie ran off to get married.

Mrs. Caroline L. Gorman, 82, a native of Vose, died Thursday at her home, 22 Redfield street, Tunkhannock, after a long illness. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the home, with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery. She was the widow of William Gorman and had lived her entire life in Wyoming County at Vose, Lemon and Tunkhannock. She is survived by a son Herman, two daughters: Mary, at home, and Mrs. John Stemples, of Rochester; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.[1]

Among those from a distance who were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Caroline Gorman on Saturday were Rev. and Mrs. F. W. Church, Dalton, Rev. and Mrs. Austin Prynn, Pittston, Mrs. George Underwood, daughter Ruth, Jackson; Mrs. Larry Coolbaugh, Trucksville; Mrs. Bertha Higley, Binghamton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jones, Endicott and Mr. and Mrs. John Stemples of Rochester.[2]

  • Note: Caroline did also live for a time in First Fork, Cameron County which is where her first child was born.

Caroline Harvey Gorman, 82, died Thursday in Tunkhannock. A native of Vose, she was one of the Pioneer attendants of the Dimock Campmeeting.[3]
