Biography

Henrietta Charlotte Hatton was born about 1816. She was the daughter of Richard Hatton and Mary Hough.

She married John Johnstone at Lambeth in 1838.

In the England and Wales Census of 1841 Charlotte is staying with her parents at their home, Rose Cottage, Mancetter. With her are her two sons Walter and Sidney. [1]

She travelled with her family on the Prince of Wales leaving London on the 2 September 1842, arriving in Nelson on the 31 December 1842.

Charlotte and John had six children:

Agnes Mary born 1842 on the Prince of Wales
Emily Lillias born 1851
Jessie born 1854

Death and burial

She died on 23 February 1878. [2][3]

She was buried in the Mount Street Cemetery, Kelburn, Wellington. [4] [5]
