George was born on 10 January 1858.^[1]

1860, Jun 16. U.S. Federal Census. The Haviland family living in Raisin, Lenawee County, Michigan. [Head of household] Philo D. Haviland, age 35, farmer, real estate $1600, personal estate $466, born NY; [wife] Emma, age 31, born NY; [son] Delvin, age 6, born MI, attended school; [son] George, age 2, born MI; [brother-in-law?] Ruben Hoag, age 23, farm laborer, born NY.^[2]

The 1880 census lists him as a farmer at Raisin, Lenawee, Michigan. Other residents were his mother Amy (51, keeping house, born in New York) and his nephew Edward Hoag, 12, born in Michigan.^[3]

On 20 September 1894 George married Ellen Calkins at Raisin, Lenawee, Michigan.^[4]

George died on 3 December 1937 at Raisin, Lenawee, Michigan.^[1] He was buried at Raisin Centre Friends Cemetery, Lenawee County, Michigan.^[7]
