Lucy was the yougest daughter of Colonel Philemon Hawkins, Jr., Revolutionary patriot, and the sister of Mrs. William Polk and of William Hawkins who a month prior to her marriage to Lewis Henry had completed his third term as governor of North Carolina. Their marriage produced no children.
