Biography

An early resident of Jeddore, Nova Scotia. According to one unsourced tree^[1], Sarah Ann Cogill, was b. 1815 to John Cogill (1778-1841) and Ann Bisset (~1786 - ). Her year of birth is calculated from age given in school records. This is consistent with her being identified as the "eldest daughter of late John Coghill" in her marriage notice.

She married William Hawkins (1813 - ) 13 Dec, 1842.

Residence 1861

It's unclear, but there are at least 2 William Hawkins/Halkins (possibly 3?) in Jeddore. One has a household with 3 males, 1 female; another has a household with 2 males, 2 females, and the last has a household with 4 males, 3 females. There is also an Alexander Hawkins (in a household with 1 male, 3 females^[2].

In the 1871 census of Jeddore, William Hawkins (age 55, baptist, born in NS) was head of a household including Ann (55), Rufus (24), Margaret (18), Stephen (13), Emma (10)^[3]

Death

William Hawkins died Jun 20, 1874 at the age of 58^[4]. He was married, born in Eastern Passage to a William[?] and Annie. He died in Musquodoboit of inflammation of the lungs. The informant was Rufus Hawkins, and his death was registered in Jeddore.
