Josiah B. Haynes was the son of William Haynes (1740-1827) and Hannah Ellis (1741-1791) of Amherst County, Virginia. He was born there on August 20, 1772. *He married first wife Judith New (1774 - 1821 there on April 28 1794. Josiah and Judith were the parents of 13 children.
