Joseph was born in 1842 in Daviess County, Kentucky. Some records show him was Joseph, but many use Franklin or Frank.
Franklin appeared in the 1850 census in Daviess County at age 7 with father William B (40), mother Margaret A (28), and 4 siblings.[1] The family grew to 9 children in 1860.[2]
By 1880 he was head of household. Four consecutive households in Knoxville had the surname Head.[3]

The 1900 census shows new daughters Kate (19) and Bessie (15) . There is also son-in-law Thomas Bivens (26). The association of surnames with given names seems wrong on the scanned document. Nina married Thomas Bivens in 1899 Kate also married a Bivins, but not until 1901. [4][5]
By 1920 he was living with daughter Bessie, now married to Frank Thixton.[6] Joseph Frank Head died in 1936.[7]
