Vernon was born in 1892 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontaro, Canada.[1][2] He is the son of William Hearst (7th Premier of Ontario, 1914-1919) and Isabella Dunkin.[2] He obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, and he spent part of his career as a trust officer for the National Trust in Toronto.[2] He was married twice: first in Memphis, Tennessee to Elise Scott Reid and later to Jean Isabel Whittemore (Hart) in 1961.[2] His daughter with Elise, Virginia, married Edward DeGuerre.[2] Vernon Hearst died in 1988 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 96.[1][2]
Howard Vernon Hearst was born in 1892. He died in 1988 (aged 95–96) and is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Toronto Municipality, Ontario, Canada.[1]

He married twice. First to Elsie [sic] Scott Reid (1921-1958). Second to Jean Isabelle Wittemore (Hart) on 17 Jun 1961. He died 1 Oct 1988 in Toronto, Ontario.[2] Note his first wife was named Elise, not Elsie. See her grave marker.
