Johanna was born in 1834. She is the daughter of Patrick Hefferon and Ellen Unknown.

Johanna Hefferon arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia on the 30th July 1855 on the ship South Sea, (950 tons, Captain George Geere) which left Plymouth on the 2nd May 1855. She was listed as being 21 and among the single women from County Cork^[1]
