Biography

Where Peter was born in 1852, was Chapman Twp., Union Co. Pennsylvania; and after Snyder Co. was formed in 1855, it became Chapman Twp., SNYDER Co.. [1]

It was a common practice among the Pennsylvania Deutsch, to name one of the male children with the middle name being the mother's maiden name. It is most likely that Peter's middle name is Longacre, Peter Longacre Heintzelman. This ensured the ability to distinguish and "track" the family and who they "belonged" to, with so many of the family's children naming their children the same names generation after generation, it could be very difficult to distinguish.
