Matilda was born in 1828. She was the daughter of Philip Heninger and Elizabeth Workman. She married David Lowder on March 11, 1849 in Tazewell, Virginia.[1] The couple are listed together on the 1860 Census (with five children),[2] the 1870 Census,[3] and the 1880 Census.[4] Seven children are linked to her find-a-grave memorial but it should be noted that nine children are listed on census reports. She passed away in 1883 at the age of 54.[5][6]
