Biography

When Samuel Hess was born on 20 February 1812, in Columbia, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Andreas Hess, was 32 and his mother, Mary Schultz, was 33. He married Anna Leitz in 1835, in Sugarloaf Township, Columbia, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 2 April 1882, in his hometown, at the age of 70, and was buried at St. Gabriel's Church Cemetery, Benton, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.

Samuel's son Elias Hess died in 1855 and was buried in Lycoming, Pennsylvania, United States.^[1]
