Princess Sophie of Hesse-Philippsthal, was born on 6 April 1695 at Philippsthal, the ninth and youngest child of Philipp, Landgrave of Hesse-Philippsthal and his wife, Catherine Amalie, Countess of Solms-Laubach.
She married at Rinteln on 5 September 1723, Peter August of Schleswig-Holstin-Sonderburg, who succeeded as Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg in Beck in 1774
They had four children:
Sophie died in childbirth on 8 May 1728 at Marburg.[1]
