Nathaniel Hetherington was born about 1830, based on his marriage certificate.^[1] He was the son of John Hetherington.^[1]

Nathaniel married Margaret Shea (born 1821) on 13 Aug 1855 in Carrick-on-Suir, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Ireland.^[1]

Nathaniel is assumed to be a brother of Catherine Hetherington, based on (1) his name as witness to her marriage certificate in 1858 in Kilkenny, Ireland; (2) they both had father John Hetherington; and (3) their births are similar times.
