Biography
Mary Ann (Hickerson) Walker is a part of US Black heritage.
Mary Ann Hickerson was born about Oct 1841 in Kentucky in the United States of America. Her death certificate says her parents were named Thomas and Mary Ann Hickerson,[1] but no other records have been found yet for her early life.
Mary Ann was married to Amos Walker and they had at least seven children. By 1870, they had moved to Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, where they lived until Amos's death.[2][3] Amos died in 1883. In 1930, right before her death, Mary Ann was living in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio with her daughter Jemima "Mima" (Walker) Mitchell.[4]
Mary Ann died on 22 May 1883 at her daughter Mima's home in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.[1][5] She was buried in Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in Dayton.[1][6]
Research Notes
Mary Ann has not yet been located in the 1900-1920 censuses.
Mary Ann's daughter Emma's death certificate says she was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky in 1859. That may be where the family lived before moving to Ohio.[7]
